Bonney recognized by Liberty League

Hobart College sophomore forward Richie Bonney was named a Liberty League Men's Basketball Performer of the Week by the conference office today. He led the Statesmen to three victories last week, averaging 19.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg.
 
In a 66-43 win at RIT on Tuesday, Bonney scored a game-high 23 points on 11-of-13 shooting and shared game-high honors with seven rebounds. In a 72-40 win over Vassar on Friday, Bonney again led all scorers with 20 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. He closed out the week with a game-high 15 points and seven rebounds in just 18 minutes as the Statesmen dispatched Bard 91-45.
 
For the week, Bonney shot .742 from the floor (23-of-31) and .917 from the free throw line (11-of-12).
 
A starter in all 15 games this season, Bonney is producing 12.7 ppg and 6.3 rpg. He's shooting 62.2 percent from the floor, 50 percent from 3-point range, and 74.5 percent from the free throw line. Bonney is second in the league in field goal percentage, ninth in free throw shooting, 10th in rebounding, and 13th in scoring.
 
Hobart is off to its best 15-game start in program history, sporting a 13-2 overall record. The Statesmen sit atop the Liberty League standings with a 6-0 record. The program's best start in League play is a seven-game win streak during the 2000-01 team's run to the conference championship.
 
Hobart will be back in action at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, when the Statesmen visit Rensselaer (6-9, 3-4).
