The Hobart College lacrosse team will host Syracuse University on Boswell Field tonight at 7:06 p.m. The 98th meeting between the I-90 rivals includes the 26th competition for the Kraus-Simmons Trophy.
The Kraus-Simmons Trophy honors National Lacrosse Hall of Fame coaches Babe Kraus of Hobart and Syracuse's Roy Simmons Sr. The Statesmen won the first Kraus-Simmons game 16-13 in 1986 and also claimed the trophy in 2006 with a 9-8 win in the Carrier Dome.
During Hobart's regular season ending three-game homestand, the lacrosse team will be selling t-shirts with proceeds going to the
Navy SEAL Foundation, which provides immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families. Long sleeve shirts will be sold for $20 and short sleeve shirts are $15.
Hobart is ranked in the top 20 in Division I in five different catagories. The Statesmen lead the nation in saves per game (14.1). Hobart ranks 14th in faceoff percentage (.551), 17th in scoring offense (11.0 gpg), 18th in points per game (17.2), and 20th in assists per game (6.2).
Syracuse is listed among the top 20 in caused turnovers per game (7th, 9.0), assists per game (18th, 6.27) and turnovers per game (20th, 14.64).
