On Saturday, April 21, the Hobart lacrosse team will host top-ranked Loyola in an ECAC Lacrosse League showdown on Boswell Field. The opening faceoff of a lacrosse doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
During Hobart's regular season ending three-game homestand, the lacrosse team will be selling t-shirts with proceeds going to the
Navy SEAL Foundation, which provides immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families.
During the second quarter, Hobart student-athletes will make their way through the stands accepting donations for
Camp Onseyawa, a summer camp for children with special needs.
The Statesmen are coming off a heart-breaking 13-12 loss to No. 15 Syracuse on Tuesday night, while the Greyhounds wrapped up the top seed in the ECAC tournament with a 12-9 win at Denver last Saturday.
This will be the eighth time Hobart has played the top ranked team in the nation and the first time since visiting No. 1 Cornell on May 4, 2007. The 'Hounds are one of only two teams to come to Boswell Field at No. 1 in the polls. The last No. 1 to play on the Boz was Loyola (May 1, 1999). Princeton also came to Geneva ranked first in 1996.
The game will be the 15th meeting between the Greyhounds and Statesmen. Loyola holds an 11-3 edge in the series. The Statesmen are looking for their first victory over the 'Hounds since 2008.
William Smith lacrosse will host St. Lawrence in the second game of the doubleheader at 3 p.m.
