The William Smith College soccer team swept the top four 2013 Liberty League Women's Soccer awards. Senior defender

Kara Shue was a unanimous selection by the conference coaches as Rookie of the Year. Head Coach

In addition, the Herons put a league-high five on the all-conference first team. Zitoli, Shue, and Dunay joined junior midfielders
Dineo Mmutla and
MaryClaire Pelletier on the first team. Junior forward
Madeline Buckley earned second team honors and first-year defender
Emma Diehl and junior defender
Brenna Kincaid garnered honorable mention.
A starter in every game and a unanimous choice for the all-league first team, Zitoli anchors the William Smith back line. She produced the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over then No. 16 Skidmore. Zitoli has guided the Herons to a league-high 15 shutouts this season, including six against nationally ranked opponents. The William Smith defense leads the Liberty League with just six goals allowed and a 0.33 goals against average. Zitoli was selected the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week three times this year and was tabbed the ECAC Upstate Co-Defensive Player of the Week Once. She also earned a spot on the 2013 Liberty League All-Tournament Team.
A second team all-conference selection a year ago, Zitoli has played in 79 career games. She has recorded two goals, both game winners, and added an assist for five career points.
Dunay has started every game in goal this season for William Smith, playing all but 16:15. She leads the Liberty League with a 0.34 goals against average, a .893 save percentage and 13 shutouts. Dunay matched a season-high with seven saves against then No. 16 Skidmore. Dunay and the Herons are currently riding a 10-match shutout streak into the NCAA tournament. She earned the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week Award and the ECAC Upstate Defensive Player of the Week Award once this year. Dunay is currently tied for second on the William Smith list for wins in a season (17) and tied for fourth on the shutouts in a season list. She was also named to this year's Liberty League All-Tournament team.
A two-year starter and 2012 All-Liberty League honorable mention selection, Dunay has played in 48 career games. She has posted a 32-3-4 career record in goal and has earned 23 career shutouts.
Also a starter in every game, Shue leads the Liberty League with nine assists this season. She ranks second on the team with 19 points and third with five goals. Shue ranks first in the league in assists per game (0.50), and fifth in points and points per game (1.06). She notched a season-high six points on two goals and two assists in a 6-2 win over Stevens. Shue also chipped in four points on the game-winning goal and two assists in a 3-0 victory at Pitt-Bradford. She also sent home the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win over then No. 25 Rochester. Shue was tabbed the Liberty League Rookie of the Week four times.
William Smith Head Coach
Aliceann Wilber and her assistants have guided the Herons to a 17-1-0 overall record and earned a perfect 8-0-0 mark in Liberty League play this year. William Smith secured its seventh straight Liberty League regular season and tournament titles. The Herons are ranked No. 3 in the latest NSCAA and D3soccer.com polls. William Smith sits atop the Liberty League in points (121), goals (42), goals per game (2.33), assists (37), assists per game (2.06), goals allowed (6), goals against average (0.33), and shutouts (15). It's the fourth time in the last six years that Wilber and her staff have earned the award.
Mmutla has started all 16 games that she has played in this fall. She scored the game-winning goal 52 seconds into overtime to defeat Vassar 1-0 during the regular season. Mmutla assisted on the game winner in a 1-0 victory over Union. She was named the Liberty League Tournament MVP and earned a spot on the all-tournament team for the second time in her career.
The 2011 Liberty League Rookie of the Year and first team honoree has played in 41 career games. She has produced 13 goals and five assists for 28 career points. Mmutla has tallied four career game-winning goals.
Pelletier has started all 18 games this season. She ranks fourth on the team with a career-high 11 points this year. Pelletier has logged four goals and three assists. She produced the game-winning goals in a 6-0 victory over Fredonia and in a 1-0 win over Clarkson. Pelletier assisted the game-tying goal against then No. 22 St. Lawrence, fueling the Herons come-from-behind 3-2 victory in Canton, N.Y.
Pelletier has played in 56 career games and has registered four goals and four assists for 12 career points.
Buckley has played in all 18 games, starting 17. She leads the Herons with 21 points and eight goals and shares second with five assists. Buckley ranks third in the conference in points and goals and is tied for fourth in assists. She is also tied for fifth in the league in game-winning goals (3). Buckley tallied a season-high four points twice this season. The first time came on a goal and two assists in a 3-0 victory over then No. 25 Rochester. She recorded two goals, including the game-winner in the 89th minute, in a 3-2 win over the then No. 22 Saints. Buckley posted the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win over Bard. She produced the game winner and added an assist in a 3-0 victory over Vassar in the Liberty League tournament semifinal. Buckley was named the Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week twice this year.
A 2012 all-conference first team honoree, Buckley has played in 60 career games. She has produced 20 goals and 11 assists for 49 career points.
Diehl has started all 18 games this year. She has played a key role in the stifling Heron defense. In addition, she has contributed three assists. Diehl's first collegiate point came on an assist on the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over then No. 1 Messiah. She dished out an assist against then No. 25 Rochester and added another against Pitt-Bradford.
Kincaid is another key defender for the Herons having played in all 18 games this season, starting 15. She has registered a goal and two assists. Kincaid scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Union and added assists in a 6-0 rout of Fredonia and a 3-0 win over Bard. She earned a spot on the Liberty League All-Tournament team for the second year in a row.
Kincaid has played in 60 career games. She has recorded seven goals and three assists for 17 career points.
The William Smith soccer team earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament by way of their 1-0 victory over RIT in the Liberty League tournament championship game. The Herons will host Cabrini for an NCAA tournament first round match on Cozzens Field at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16.
