The Hobart College squash team, who is ranked No. 29 in the most recent College Squash Association Rankings, topped No. 25 Stanford 7-2 in a match played in Stanford, Calif., late yesterday.
The Statesmen, who traveled out to California for a training trip, improve to 4-7 overall. Hobart notched wins at Nos. 1,2,4,5,6,7 and 9 to clinch the victory. First-year
Art Martella gave the Statesmen a 1-0 advantage with an 11-7, 11-3, 11-8 win at No. 9. Junior
McGee O'Neil cruised to an 11-6, 11-2, 11-6 win at No. 6 to make it 2-0.
Stanford's Matt Stevens picked up a hard fought five-game win at No. 3 to make it 2-1, and then the Cardinal earned a three-game win at No. 8 to tie things up.

Danny Cabrera battled for an 11-9, 11-5, 8-11, 11-9 victory at No. 5 to give Hobart back the lead. First-year
Scott Marcus made it 4-2 with an 11-6, 11-2, 11-6 triumph at No. 7 and first-year
Felipe Pantle clinched the overall win for the Statesmen with an 11-5, 7-11, 11-5, 11-9 win at the No. 2 spot. Senior
William Boyle registered an 11-7, 12-10, 6-11, 11-9 victory at No. 4 and junior
Billy Abrams earned an 11-9, 11-3, 11-4 win at the top spot for the final.
The Statesmen will be back in action Jan. 24-26, when they compete in the 2014 Yale Round Robin. Hobart will take on Colby on Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. in their first match of the round robin.
