Statesmen tripped up by Colby

The Hobart College squash team was tripped up 7-2 by No. 23 Colby College tonight in its first match of the 2014 Yale Round Robin in New Haven, Conn. The Statesmen, who are ranked No. 28 in the most recent College Squash Association rankings, are now 4-8 overall.

Senior William Boyle and first-year Art Martella each logged victories for Hobart. Boyle posted an 11-4, 11-9, 11-9 win at No. 4. At No. 9, Martella dropped his first two games 11-6 and 11-2 and then rallied to win his third game 11-2. He secured a 12-10 victory in game four after being down three match points. Martella clinched the victory with an 11-2 win in game five.

The Statesmen will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 25, when they take on Connecticut College and Bowdoin at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
