The Hobart College squash team was edged 6-3 by Connecticut College in the College Squash Association Conroy Cup championship match.
Hobart, who is ranked No. 26 in the most recent College Squash Association Rankings, advanced to the championship for the first time since 2012 with 8-1 wins over MIT and Stanford. It's the second time this season the Statesmen have faced Connecticut College, dropping a match 5-4 to them back on Jan. 25, 2014.
The No. 25 Camels earned the first victory of the match at No. 9, but junior
McGee O'Neil evened the score with an 11-7, 11-8, 11-8 win at the No. 6 spot. Connecticut College took a 2-1 lead with a win at No. 3, but Hobart tied things up again as sophomore
Danny Cabrera posted his third win of the weekend 15-13, 12-10, 11-8 at No. 5.
The Camels won at No. 8 to take back the lead, but first-year
Beau Orchard topped his competition 14-12, 11-7, 11-8 at No. 2 to tie the match up at 3-3. Connecticut College came out on top at Nos. 4, 7 and 1 to secure the overall victory.
The Statesmen completed their season with a 7-13 overall record.
