Statesmen open NEC play at home against Robert Morris on Saturday

The Hobart College lacrosse team will play its first Northeast Conference game on Saturday, March 15, when the Robert Morris University Colonials visit Boswell Field. The Statesmen are in their first season as a member of the NEC.
 
Faceoff at the Boz is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under.
 
Hobart (1-5, 0-0) is coming off a dramatic 11-10 overtime win at Canisius on Tuesday. Sophomore Cooper Stefaniak scored with 76 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and senior Cam Stone netted the game winner with 43 seconds left in the first extra period. Stone leads the team with 14 points on five goals and nine assists. Classmate Jake McHenry has scored a team-high 11 goals. In goal, senior Peter Zonino is averaging 12.3 saves per game and has a .532 save percentage.
 
Robert Morris (2-3, 0-1) is also coming off an overtime victory, following a 10-9 win at Siena yesterday. Sophomore Eric Rankel, sophomore Luke Laszkiewicz, and first-year JonPatrik Kealey share the team scoring lead with nine goals apiece. Rankel also has a team-high six assists for 15 points. Senior goalie Brian Bohn has 48 saves and a .466 save percentage.
 
This will be the fifth meeting between the two programs, and first as conference rivals. The Statesmen won the first two contests (15-10 in 2005 and 9-8 in 2011) while the Colonials have won the past two meetings (14-12 in 2012 and 16-12 in 2013).
 
The game also marks the return of the Statesmen Tent pregame lunches for Statesmen Athletic Association (SAA) members. The Statesmen Tent will be open one hour prior to faceoff and close following halftime at Hobart's remaining home games.
