MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Hobart College squash team notched a pair of victories on the first day of the 2015 Wesleyan Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University this afternoon and evening. The Statesmen improved to 9-5 on the season with the pair of wins.

Hobart matched up against MIT in its first match of the day with the Statesmen prevailing 7-2.
Felipe Pantle won 10-12, 11-9, 11-8, 11-4 at No. 1 and set the tone early for Hobart.
Beau Orchard prevailed in the No. 2 spot, 11-6, 11-4, 11-9,
Terrance Rose emerged victorious at No. 3, 11-9, 11-5, 10-12, 13-11, and junior
Danny Cabrera won at No. 5, 8-11, 11-4, 11-3, 12-10. First-year
James Pierpont, sophomore
Ben Shapiro and senior
McGee O'Neil each won 3-0 at Nos. 4, 8 and 9 respectively. Sophomore
Scott Marcus went to five games before losing, 11-8, 4-11, 17-15, 6-11, 11-9, at No. 6.

In their evening match, the Statesmen took on Boston University. Hobart beat the Terriers 9-0 without losing a game. First-year
Greg Dolente played the match at No. 1 winning 12-10, 11-1, 11-1. Classmate
Jack Shannon saw his first action of the day besting his opponent, 11-5, 11-0, 11-2, at No. 3. Junior
Michael Woods and sophomore
Art Martella won at Nos. 8 and 9 respectively. First-year
Divine Wing won his match, 11-8, 11-7, 11-2 at No. 4. Rose, Shapiro and O'Neil each notched their second victories of the day against Boston University. After falling in his morning game,
Krittapat Pranich picked up a win in the afternoon.

Hobart, who was ranked No. 23 in the latest College Squash Team Rankings, will be back in action tomorrow for day 2 of the Wesleyan Invitational. The Statesmen will play No. 20 Wesleyan at 9 a.m. and No. 26 Connecticut College at noon.Â
