MIDDLETOWN, Conn, - The Hobart College squash team split its final two matches at the 2015 Wesleyan Invitational. The Statesmen, ranked No. 23 in the latest College Squash Team Rankings, fell to host Wesleyan but beat Connecticut College to conclude the tournament. Hobart improves to 10-6 on the season.
In their first match of the day, the Statesmen faced the host Cardinals, who were ranked 20th in the latest College Squash Team Rankings. Wesleyan bested Hobart 9-0. Junior
Danny Cabrera pushed his match to five games at the No. 8 spot before losing, 13-11,11-8, 0-11, 6-11, 11-8. Sophomores

The Statesmen squared off against the Camels in their second match of the day. Hobart knocked off No. 26 Connecticut College 6-3. Playing in the No. 2 spot, Orchard collected a big win for the Statesmen. He lost his first two games to Camel's No. 2 Mike Coscarelli before winning the match, 14-16, 8-11, 11-3, 11-8, 11-6. James Pierpont each prevailed in their matches against the Camels 3-1. Cabrera and Rose swept their matches 3-0 with Rose notching the contest clinching win at No. 4. Shannon collected the sixth win for Hobart winning at No. 5, 11-9, 4-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-9.
Hobart will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 3, when the Statesmen host Hamilton at the Smith Squash Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
