SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The William Smith College tennis team notched an 8-1 road victory over Union this afternoon. With their second straight win, the Herons improve to 9-8 overall on the season and 3-4 in Liberty League play, while Union falls to 3-12 and 1-6 in conference play.

Sydney Arsenault defeated Margaret Oppenheim and Emily Newman, while
Annie Venditti and
Alex Cattie topped Hayley Lough and Abby Vickers at No. 3.
In singles play, More faced a tough test at No. 1, emerging victorious over Union's Natalia Pronchick, 6-3, 3-6, 10-3. Cattie also went to three sets at No. 6. She defeated Lena Diller 6-1, 4-6, 10-5. Venditti's second win of the afternoon game at No. 5 singles. She bested Emily Newman, 6-2, 6-2. Wolf won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Denton extended her winning streak to 16 matches when she beat Union's Oppenheim 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Denton is now a team best 18-2 in singles play this season.
William Smith will be back in action on Wednesday, April 29, when it travels to Clinton, New York for a non-conference match against Hamilton.Â
