AMHERST, Mass. – The Hobart College squash team opened the 2016 portion of its scheduled with an 8-1 victory over Dickinson on the first day of the Pioneer Valley Invitational. With the win, the Statesmen are now 3-4 on the season.

Danny Cabrera cruised to a sweep at No. 8, defeating Sam Portelance, 11-3, 11-2, 11-0. At No. 6, sophomore
Divine Wing extended Hobart's lead to 2-0. He won 11-7, 5-11, 11-5, 11-8. Juniors
Beau Orchard and
Terrance Rose escaped five game matches with 3-2 victories at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively. Sophomore
Jack Shannon clinched the match for the Statesmen with a 3-0 sweep at No. 7. First-year
Gabe Garcia bested Dickinson's Preston Miller, 11-6, 11-7, 12-10, at No. 9. First-year

Felipe Pantle won their matches 3-1 at Nos. 1 and 5, respectively. The Statesmen's lone loss came at the No. 3 spot.
Hobart will be back in action tomorrow morning in South Hadley, Mass. The Statesmen will square off with Stanford at 9 a.m. and Haverford at Noon.
