SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Hobart College squash team notched a pair of victories at Smith College this morning. In their first match of the day, the Statesmen beat Stanford 8-1. Later in the day Hobart beat Haverford 8-1.

Against the Cardinal, junior
Beau Orchard put the Statesmen (5-4) up 1-0 early with an 11-9, 11-9, 11-7 win at No. 2 over Stanford's William MacFarlane. First-year
Gabe Garcia won in four games at No. 9, 7-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-8. Senior
Danny Cabrera beat Matthew Stewart 3-1 at No. 8. Junior
Terrance Rose won his match in five games, 9-11, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-9, at No. 4. Junior
Felipe Pantle clinched the match for Hobart at No. 5. Junior
Jack Shannon swept Vihan Khanna, 11-5, 13-11, 11-3 at No. 7. First-years
Josh Oakley and
Ilyas Khan closed out the match with 3-2 wins at Nos. 1 and 3, respectively.

In the afternoon contest against the Fords, the Statesmen lost only one game as eight of the nine matches were 3-0 sweeps. Sophomore
Divine Wing notched his first win of the day with a 3-0 sweep of Haverford's Zach Cole. Orchard's 3-1 win at No. 2 clinched the match for Hobart. With his third straight win, Oakley is now a team-best 6-3 in the No. 1 spot.

The Statesmen will conclude its Pioneer Valley Invitational tomorrow at 9 a.m. when they face Colby College.
