SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Hobart College squash team was edged by Colby 6-3 this morning in its final match at the 2016 Pioneer Valley Invitational. The Statesmen are now 5-5 on the season.

The Mules took an early 3-0 lead in the match after sweeps at Nos. 3, 6, and 9. The Statesmen's first win of the match came when first-year
Josh Oakley notched his fourth straight win in the No. 1 position. He defeated Colby's Will McBrian, 11-5, 11-7, 11-5. Junior
Felipe Pantle collected Hobart's second win of the match with a 11-9, 9-11, 11-13, 11-8, 11-7 victory over Benjamin Kwas. Sophomore
Jack Shannon posted a 3-1 win at No. 7 for his fourth win of the weekend. The Mules clinched the match with a 3-2 win at No. 8.

Oakley, Pantle, and Shannon were each 4-0 on the weekend for the Statesmen. Oakley is now a team-best 7-3, playing all 10 matches in the top spot for Hobart.

The Statesmen will be back on the courts next weekend, Jan. 22-23 in Middletown, Conn. Hobart will face Bowdoin on Friday at 8 p.m. and then Wesleyan and Trinity on Saturday.Â
