The William Smith College soccer team remained in the No. 1 spot in both the NSCAA and the D3soccer.com polls this week. It's the sixth week in a row the Herons have held the top spot in the D3soccer poll, and the second straight week at No. 1 in the coaches poll.
 
William Smith is now 14-0-0 overall, matching the program record for consecutive wins to start the season set in 1988. The Heron are now 6-0-0 in the Liberty League.  William Smith is one of three teams in the country to be unbeaten and untied. The Herons have notched eight straight shutouts, and have not allowed a goal since Sept. 17.
 
William Smith ranks seventh in the nation in points per game (11.07) and scoring offense (4.00 g/gm), eighth in points (155), ninth in goals (56) and 10th in goals against average (0.29) and assists (43).
 
Senior Kara Shue leads William Smith with 28 points on 10 goals and eight assists. She ranks 27th in Division III in assists. Sophomore goalie Veronica Romines has played the most minutes this season. She is first in the nation with a 0.11 goals against average and eighth with a .923 save percentage. Romines has an 11-0-0 record in goal and has earned five shutouts.
 
The Herons are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 22, when they travel to take on Union in a Liberty League contest at 3 p.m.
