The No. 1 William Smith College soccer team will face No. 13 Amherst in an NCAA tournament third round game hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 1:30 p.m.

No. 23 Brandeis will face No. 15 McDaniel in the other third round game on Saturday on Gordon Field. The advancing teams will meet on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. for a spot in the national semifinals.

The Herons bring a 20-0-0 overall record into the weekend. William Smith topped Worcester State 5-0 in the first round and defeated Trinity (Conn.) 3-0 in the second round to advance to Saturday's game. The Herons, who are making a record 27th appearance in the NCAA tournament, have advanced to the round of 16, 19 times.

Kara Shue leads William Smith with 37 points on 12 goals and 13 assists. She ranks ninth in the nation in total assists and 16th in assists per game. Sophomore goalie
Veronica Romines ranks first in Division III with a 0.07 goals against average and second with a .944 save percentage. The Herons are third in the nation in goals against average (0.20), and fourth in assists per game (3.20), points per game (11.10), and shutout percentage (.800). In addition, William Smith ranks fifth in assists (64) and points (222), sixth in scoring offense (3.95) and seventh in goals (79).

Amherst is 17-2-1 this season. The Purple and White defeated Trinity 2-1 in the NESCAC tournament championship to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Amherst, which is making its 16th appearance in the NCAA tournament, defeated Lasell 4-0 in the first round and topped Swarthmore 4-2 in the second round. Hannah Guzzi leads the team with 41 points on 18 goals and five assists. Chelsea Cutler has played the most minutes in goal and is sporting a 0.71 goals against average and a .865 save percentage.Â
