GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College lacrosse team will host Colgate University at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8 in a non-conference game on Boswell Field. It will be the 64th meeting between the Central New York rivals.
Due to the early start time, admission will be free for all fans. Parking in the Boswell Field lot remains an exclusive benefit of Statesmen Athletic Association membership. The lot will be closed for the game at 2 p.m. and will only be accessible to SAA permit holders until halftime.
The Statesmen (2-2) are coming off a 12-6 win over Binghamton on Saturday. Junior attackman
Frank Brown produced a career-high five points on four goals and an assist to lead the offense. Hobart enjoyed a 14-7 edge at the faceoff X thanks in large part to the work of first-year
Matthew Pedicine, who won 12 of his 17 restarts. Junior goalie
Jackson Brown earned the win with seven saves.
The Raiders (2-2) are looking to rebound from a 12-9 Patriot League loss at Lehigh this past Saturday. Lehigh led by as many as five in the third quarter, but Colgate rallied to cut its deficit to one, 10-9, with just over six minutes remaining. The Mountain Hawks scored twice in the final four minutes to clinch the victory.
Hobart ranks in the top 25 in the nation in man down defense (13th, .750), faceoff percentage (18th, .586), clearing percentage (24th, .875), and scoring offense (25th, 11.0). Brown is 23rd in the nation in goals per game (.275).
Colgate is among the national leaders in turnovers per game (15th, 12.25), man down defense (17th, .727), and scoring defense (17th, 8.75). Goalie Brandon Burke is 19th in the country in goals against average (8.69).
The Statesmen lead the series, which began in 1921, 50-11-2. Since Hobart elevated its lacrosse program to Division I in 1995, the teams have squared off 15 times with the Statesmen prevailing 12 times.
The game will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3). Fans can also follow the action online with All-Access Video and Live Stats.
