ITHACA, N.Y.-The Hobart College squash team dropped a match to 17th ranked Virginia 9-0 at Cornell University this afternoon. The loss drops the Statesmen to 6-3 on the season.
 
The Cavaliers (5-4) controlled the match, winning 3-0 in eight of the nine spots. Senior Jack Shannon pushed his match to four games at No. 4 but was defeated by Grason Bubrosky 11-7, 2-11, 11-8, 11-9. Despite falling 3-0, junior Josh Oakley competed in one of the closest matches of the day. He was edged by Mason Blake 12-10, 11-9, 11-9, at No. 1.
 
Hobart has now completed the 2017 portion of its schedule. The Statesmen will be back in action on Jan. 9 when they travel to Palo Alto, Calif., to face Stanford. Hobart will also play Tufts while in California.
