CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Hobart College squash team cruised to an 8-1 victory over Connecticut College in its first round match of the College Squash Association Conroy Cup. The Statesmen advance to the semifinals where they will face Tufts tomorrow, Feb. 18, at 9 a.m.
No. 25 Hobart (8-13), which was the No. 1 seed in the Conroy Cup, collected 3-0 victories in six of the nine spots. Sophomore
Josh Oakley improved to 9-9 in the top spot of the lineup with an 11-5, 11-5, 11-5 win over the Camels' Matt Lillie. In the No. 3 spot, junior
Terrance Rose collected his team-leading 10th win of the season with an 11-7, 11-3, 11-7 sweep. Junior
Matthew Frantz cruised past Winston Simone 11-4, 11-3, 11-1 in the seventh spot, while first-year
Cristian Escalona bested his opponent 11-9, 11-2, 11-2.
Graham Henderson collected the eighth win of his rookie season, defeating Louis Feingold 11-4, 11-8, 11-3. Junior
Divine Wing knocked off Samuel Piller in a tightly contested 12-10, 12-10, 11-4 at No. 5.

Felipe Pantle and junior
Jack Shannon topped their Camel opponents 3-1 at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively. Pantle rallied to win his match 8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7, while Shannon won 11-4, 8-11, 11-4, 11-8. Connecticut College's lone win came in the No. 9 spot by the score of 3-1.
The 28th-ranked Jumbos defeated Hamilton 5-4 to advance to tomorrow's semifinal at Harvard. Hobart and Tufts last met in 2013, when the Statesmen won 5-4 in the Consolation Final of that year's Conroy Cup.
