GENEVA, N.Y.-The William Smith College tennis team clinched the fourth and final spot in the Liberty League Tournament with an 8-1 win over Rensselaer at the HWS Tennis Center this afternoon. The Herons conclude the regular season with an 11-7 overall record and a 4-3 mark in conference play.

Katarina Kostovic notched an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles to give William Smith a 1-0 lead in the match. The senior duo is now a team best 9-3 on the year, playing all 12 matches at the No. 1 spot. First-year

Alex Greenberg also won 8-1 at No. 3. Foley and Greenberg are 6-3 as a duo this year. Junior

Allie Perron closed out doubles with an 8-3 win at No. 2.

The Herons clinched the match with five singles victories. More won her seventh straight match at No. 1, besting Tess Lubin 6-2, 6-0. More is now 14-8 in her senior season. Denton defeated Andrea Valencia 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2. Denton is 10-10 on the year, including a team best 6-7 record at No. 2. Perron lost just one game as she collected her team-high 16th win of the year with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3. Greenberg and first-year
Leland Barclay closed out the match with three set victories at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Greenberg bested Makenzi Herbst 6-0, 4-6, 10-7, while Barclay edged Angelika Rothberg 3-6, 6-2, 10-6.

William Smith will face Skidmore, who is ranked 20th in the latest Oracle/ITA D-III Women's National Team Rankings, next Saturday, May 6. The 2017 Liberty League Women's Tennis Tournament will take place at Ithaca's Reis Tennis Center.
