GENEVA, N.Y.- The William Smith College tennis team was edged by St. Lawrence 6-3 in a Liberty League contest at the HWS Tennis Center this afternoon. The Herons, who were ranked 20th in the latest Oracle/ITA Northeast Regional Rankings, are now 7-6 overall and 1-3 in the Liberty League, while the Saints, who were ranked 18th in those same rankings, are now 6-8 overall and 3-2 in the Liberty League.

The Saints took a 2-1 lead after doubles play thanks to wins in the top two spots. Seniors

Katarina Kostovic were edged by Georgia Comber and Alexandra Dadoly 9-7 at No. 1. More and Kostovic are a team-best 8-3 as a doubles team this year. First-year
Kate Foley and sophomore
Alex Greenberg won 8-4 at No. 3 to earn the Herons' lone doubles point. Foley and Greenberg are 5-3 as a duo this year.

St. Lawrence clinched the overall victory with four straight-sets singles wins. More and Greenberg won at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, respectively, for William Smith. More defeated Comber 6-4, 5-7, 11-9 for her 10th win of the year. More is 7-6 at the top of the lineup for the Herons this year. Greenberg defeated Carly Jefferson 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 to close out the match. Greenberg is now 6-3 this year after winning her third straight match.

William smith will be back in action on Thursday, April 13, when it hosts Nazareth at the HWS Tennis Center. The match with the Golden Flyers is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
