Hobart College lacrosse All-American Frank Brown was drafted by the Georgia Swarm during the National Lacrosse League Draft last night. The 2017 NEC Player of the Year was the 24th overall pick.
 
Brown was the first pick of the third round. Over the summer, he was also drafted by the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse.
 
The Swarm are the defending NLL Champions. If Brown signs with Georgia, he would join former Statesmen Ethan O'Connor '13.
 
A 2017 USILA All-American honorable mention, Brown led the Statesmen in goals and points last spring, finishing the year with 32 goals and 18 assists for 50 points. Since 1995, only two Statesmen have recorded more points in a season. Brown logged three goals and two assists against then No. 2 Syracuse and notched a career-high eight points against Mount St. Mary's. He tied Hobart's Division I era record for goals in a game, scoring six times against the Mountaineers.
 
In addition to All-America honors, Brown was also voted the Northeast Conference Player of the Year, the NEC Offensive Player of the Year, and first team All-NEC. Hobart was 9-7 overall this year and won the NEC regular season championship with a 5-1 conference mark.
 
Slowed by injuries early in his career, Brown broke out for a team-high 44 points as a junior, leading Hobart to the NEC Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
 
In 58 career games, he scored 81 goals and had 39 assists for 120 points. Among Division I Statesmen, Brown ranks seventh in career goals, eighth in career points, and 12th in career assists.
 
Brown is the first Statesman selected in the NLL Draft since O'Connor was taken in the first round of the 2013 draft by the Toronto Rock.
