Three members of the Hobart College football team were among the 22 student-athletes voted to the 2018 Google Cloud Division III Academic All-District 3 Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Junior defensive end Collin Hudgins, junior defensive back Andrew Koonz and sophomore kicker Kyle Hackett were recognized for their excellence in the classroom and on the gridiron.
 
To be on the Academic All-District ballot, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or significant reserve and be at least a sophomore academically. CoSIDA selects All-District teams from eight geographic regions across the United States and Canada. All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be selected.
 
An economics major, Hudgins is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic Team honoree. The Dean's List student was one of 11 HWS student-athletes named a 2018 Arthur Ashe Jr. Scholar Award winner.
 
A starter in all nine game this season, Hudgins recorded 36 tackles, six tackles for loss (3rd on team), a team-high four sacks and a fumble recovery. Earlier this week, he was named to the All-Liberty League second team. Hudgins had a season-high nine tackles, including two for loss and a sack, against Ithaca. He made seven tackles, including a sack, against nationally-ranked Rensselaer and also had seven stops with a pair of sacks against Union.
 
In 22 career games, Hudgins has 49 tackles, 8.5 for loss, 5.5 sacks, two pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.
 
A mathematics major, Koonz is a Dean's List student and earned a spot on the 2018 Liberty League All-Academic Team.
 
Koonz made a successful transition from wide receiver to free safety between his sophomore and junior seasons, starting all seven games he played in this year. He produced 38 tackles (4th on team), including one for loss, forced a fumble and a team-high three interceptions. Koonz logged a season-high nine tackles (8 solo) at Shenandoah. He notched his first career interception and returned it 25 yards against Morrisville. Koonz is second in the Liberty League and 61st in the nation in interceptions per game.
 
An economics major, Hackett is a Dean's List student and a member of the 2018 Liberty League All-Academic Team.
 
The two-time Liberty League Special Teams Player of the Year, Hackett is the only kicker in NCAA football with a perfect field goal percentage over the past two seasons. After converting all 10 of his attempts last year, he went 9-for-9 this year. Hackett is 18th in the nation in field goals made per game. The top scoring kicker in the Liberty League (7.1 ppg), he was also perfect on PATs, making 37 this year. Hackett extended his Hobart record for consecutive PATs to 48. The three-time Liberty League Special Teams Performer of the Week broke the Hobart record for points in a game by kicking when he scored 13 points against Morrisville (2 FGs, 7 PATs). Hackett also handled kickoffs for the Statesmen, amassing a league-high 13 touchbacks.
 
In 19 career games, Hackett has a Hobart career record tying 19 field goals (on 19 attempts) and 80 PATs. The two-time All-Liberty League first team selection also earned 2017 D3football.com All-East third team honors.
 
Hobart ended its 125th campaign with a 5-4 record, the program's 11th consecutive winning season. The Statesmen tied for third in the Liberty League with a 3-2 mark in conference play.
