MIDDLETOWN, CONN-The Hobart College squash team wrapped up the 2018 portion of its schedule at the Wesleyan Round Robin this weekend. The Statesmen, who are ranked 27th in the nation in the College Squash Association Team Rankings, were 1-2 on the weekend.

Josh Oakley and first-year
Mohamed Abdelhafez led the way for Hobart (4-5), playing in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots of the lineup. Oakley was 3-0 at No. 1 while Abdelhafez was 2-1 in the No. 2 spot. The Statesmen defeated the Host Cardinals 7-2 and dropped matches to No. 24 Colby and No. 19 Dickinson.

Hobart opened the round robin on Friday against the Mules. Colby won four of their matches 3-0 and earned their other three points with 3-1 victories. Abdelhafez improved to 4-3 in the No. 2 spot with an 11-3, 11-8, 11-4 victory in the No. 2 spot. Oakley knocked off Elliot Gross in five games. He won 11-6, 8-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-6.

Saturday morning, the Statesmen took on Wesleyan. Oakley and Abdelhafez won 3-0 in the top two spots. Oakley swept Sean Choi 11-5, 11-8, 11-7 at No. 1 while Abdelhafez beat Yahya Ladiwala 11-7, 11-9, 11-6. First-year
Michael Mulholland defeated Josh Lane at No. 3, 11-7, 6-11, 13-11, 11-6, for his fourth win of the season.
Cameron Temoyan also earned a 3-1 win, besting Peter Delalio, 11-4, 11-5, 8-11, 11-8 at No. 5. First-year
Henry Amory earned his first collegiate victory in the No. 8 spot. Junior
Joshua Pugliese won 3-1 in the No. 9 spot. First-year
Eric Molina rallied to defeat Andrew Doucette, 9-11, 3-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-6.

Against Dickinson, Oakley held on to claim Hobart's lone point in the No. 1 spot, 11-9, 12-10, 4-11, 2-11, 11-9. It was his fourth straight win. Abdelhafez put up a strong fight in the No. 2 spot but was edged in five games, 4-11, 11-3, 17-15, 6-11, 12-10. The Red Devils won the other five matches 3-0.

Hobart will be back in action on Jan. 12 when it welcomes the University of Western Ontario to The Smith Squash Center.
