Start time for William Smith-Ithaca match changed

GENEVA, N.Y.-The start time of the William Smith College tennis match on Tuesday, March 6 against Ithaca College has been pushed back to accommodate midterm exams.  The Liberty League match against the Bombers is now scheduled to begin at 5 p.m in Bristol Field House.

The Herons are 2-1 overall and 1-1 in dual matches and are looking to rebound from a loss to then No. 20 Skidmore on Feb. 24. Sophomore Leland Barclay is a team best 6-0 in singles play. Senior Michaenn Denton (3-5) and sophomore Kate Foley (3-2) have three wins each. First-years Charlotte Engebrecht and Olivia Engebrecht lead the team with six doubles wins. Senior Michaelann Denton and first-year Dina Rigas have three wins as a team.

Ithaca is 0-2 overall 0-1 in its first season in the Liberty League.  The Bombers will host Union on Saturday before traveling north to face the Herons. Brianna Ruback has a team-high three singles wins this year. Sara Steinberg reached the semifinals of "B" flight singles at the 2017 Mary Hosking Invitational.

Dating back to 1980, William Smith holds a 19-14 edge in the series, including a 9-8 record in Geneva. The Herons have won eight of the last 10 meetings.
