Statesmen to host Bulldogs on Saturday

The Hobart College lacrosse team is set to take on Bryant University in an NEC matchup on Boswell Field at David J Urick Stadium on Saturday, April 13 at noon.

The Statesmen (8-3, 2-1) aim to rebound following a pair of tough losses last week, including a 12-11 set back at Saint Joseph's in overtime. Hobart continues to flood the stat sheet, as the Statesmen are ranked in the top-10 in the nation in eight of the 15 statistical categories the NCAA tracks. Hobart is third in the nation in assists per game (9.45), fourth in scoring offense (14.64), points per game (24.09), and man-up offense (.474), and fifth in the nation in ground balls per game (37.45).

The balanced offense features seven players with 20 or more points this season led by junior Eric Holden 44 points on 30 goals and 14 assists. Senior Chris Aslanian is the top playmaker, ranking in the top-10 nationally for assists per game. Only two players in Hobart's Division I era have handed out more than his NEC-leading 28 assists in a season. First-year Jason Knox is second on the team with 26 goals, three short of Hobart's Division I era season record for a first-year. Junior Justin Scott is tied with Knox for third on the team with 30 points on 20 goals and 10 assists. Scott produced three points against the Hawks to become the 13th Division I Statesman to reach the 100-point plateau. Holden enter's the Bryant game poised to become the 14th. He has 99 career points.

Senior Matthew Pedicine has excelled at the faceoff X, winning 190 of 320 (.629) while scooping up 125 ground balls. He's third in the nation in ground balls per game.

On the defensive end, junior goaltender Sam Lucchesi sports a 6-2 record with a .533 save percentage and a 10.27 GAA. Junior defenseman PJ Delpha paced the team with 12 caused turnovers.

Following an 11-8 loss to Sacred Heart last Saturday, Bryant brings a 3-8 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play to Geneva. Sophomore Marc O'Rourke leads the way for the Bulldogs with 42 points on 28 goals and 14 assists. First-year Mason Balch has added 11 goals and eight assists. First-year goaltender Luke Caracciolo has started 10 of 11 games for the Bulldogs, boasting a 9.66 GAA and .569 save percentage.
