The Hobart College squash team will travel to Boston, this weekend Feb. 28-Mar. 1, for the 2020 College Squash Association Team National Championships. Ranked 33rd in the nation, the Statesmen will compete for the Chaffee Cup. Harvard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology will host the national championships.

The No. 1 seed in the Chaffee Cup, Hobart brings a 5-12 overall record into the tournament. The Statesmen went 3-1 at the Liberty League Championship, placing second. Hobart will open the weekend with a match against eighth-seeded Bard Friday, Feb. 28, at noon. The Statesmen defeated the Raptors 8-1 in their last meeting on Feb. 9.

In the second round, Hobart will face either No. 5 seed Northeastern or No. 4 seed Denison. The winners will meet in the semifinals while the other two teams will meet in the consolation draw. The consolation draw will being at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the semifinals will start at 11:15 a.m.
The second half of the bracket includes NYU, University of Chicago, Washington (Mo.), and Fordham. Hobart is 3-1 against the Chaffee Cup field this season. The Statesmen defeated the Big Red 8-0 Nov. 2, 2019, and earned a 7-2 win against the Rams Jan. 19, 2020. Hobart was edged by Bard 5-4 Dec. 7, 2019.

Quinn Udy leads the team with a 9-8 record, and a 7-8 mark in the No. 1 spot. Sophomore
Mo Abdelhafez is 7-5 this season, with a 4-1 record in the No. 3 spot. Sophomore
Eric Molina has tallied eight wins overall this season.
