Football hosts St. Lawrence Saturday

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College football team will host St. Lawrence University on Boswell Field at Urick Stadium at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23.
 
Admission to Urick Stadium is free for all spectators. Anyone entering any indoor space on campus, including those ancillary to the stadium, is required to wear a mask. Masks are also required in crowded outdoor settings.
 
The 92nd meeting between the Statesmen and Saints will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.3/90.5 in Geneva). Online, the game will be webcast on HWS All-Access. Fans can also track the action through Live Stats.
 
Hobart leads the series 53-36-2, including a 29-19-1 edge in Geneva.
 
The Statesmen (5-1, 1-1) are coming off a 10-9 victory over then No. 23 Rensselaer on Saturday. The Statesmen rushed for 222 yards, including 146 yards and a touchdown by running back Rayshawn Boswell. Hobart limited the Engineers to a season-low 145 yards of total offense, including a season-low 57 yards passing. Linebacker Bryan Aguilar made a team-high 10 tackles and sealed the victory with an interception in the final minute of the fourth quarter. Linebacker CJ Calero added six tackles and blocked RPI's PAT try with 3:39 to go to preserve the Statesmen's one-point lead.
 
Hobart ranks in the top 10 in the nation in total defense (6th, 204.8 yds/g), time of possession (7th, 35:11), first downs defense (7th, 73) and punt return defense (9th, 0.67 yds/ret).
 
The Saints (3-3, 0-2) are looking to rebound from a 17-0 loss to then No. 17 Ithaca. SLU only allowed 17 points, despite giving up 407 yards to the Bombers' offense. St. Lawrence quarterback Tyler Grochot was 20-for-39 passing for 168 yards. Sean McCormack and Daniel Greene shared team-high honors with four receptions apiece, combining for 99 yards. Defensive back Max Gilbert led the defense with nine tackles and an interception.
 
St. Lawrence ranks in the top 10 in the nation in punt return defense (7th, 0.4).
