VERONA, N.Y.—The Hobart College golf team competed in the 36-hole Liberty League Fall Preview Tournament on Shenandoah Golf Course at Turning Stone Resort this weekend. The Statesmen were sixth out of seven teams.

Sam Cuddeback was the top Statesmen performer. He finished Saturday's first round with a team-best, two-over 74, which put him 10th out of 42 golfers. On Sunday, he carded a 77, slipping one spot to 11th in the tournament standings. Phil Satin was one shot behind Cuddeback in 15th place. After shooting a 79 in the first round, Satin made a charge up the leaderboard on Sunday, firing a one-over 73. It's the second time this season he's shot a 73, the lowest 18-hole score by a Statesman this season.

Stephen Alphas was consistent this weekend, shooting an 84 in both rounds, finishing 35th overall. Jack Murphy was four shots behind Alphas, tied for 38th place and Jake Gresh was 40th one stroke behind Murphy.

NYU won the tournament title by two shots over Rensselaer. Rochester was third followed by Skidmore, St. Lawrence, Hobart and Clarkson. Skidmore's Harry Grosso, competing as an individual, was the individual medalist. He posted rounds of 71 and 68 for a two shot victory over RPi's Joey Harrigan.

The Statesmen will close out the fall portion of their schedule Oct. 9-10 at the Nazareth Invitational.
