CANTON, N.Y.—The 21st-ranked William Smith College Squash team was edged by St. Lawrence 6-3 in a match at Robie Squash Center this afternoon. With the loss, the Herons are now 2-1 on the season.
The Saints controlled the match, winning in the top four spots of the ladder. Four of St. Lawrence's six points were 3-1 victories. The other two were 3-0 wins.
Lark Ervasti logged her first win of the season, besting Petra Derose, 11-9, 11-6, 11-5, in the No. 5 spot.
Jada Smith-Padmore improved to 3-0 on the season with her win in the No. 6 spot. She topped Margarett Pruett, 11-5, 11-5, 11-5.
Jo Pacheco also logged her third victory of the season. She secured a win in one of the closer matches of the day, topping Stamisha Ramsey 11-9, 11-8, 11-9.
William Smith will be back in action tomorrow, Nov. 14, when it takes on Vassar. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
