This will be the first meeting between the Statesmen and the Sharks in Division I. Hobart previously faced LIU-C.W. Post 10 times with the Statesmen holding a 7-3 series lead. C.W. Post won the most recent meeting between the teams, 15-14 in Baltimore on March 19, 1988. Hobart's most recent win in the series was an 18-5 triumph on Boswell Field in 1983. The last time the Statesmen visited Brookville, the Orange and Purple prevailed 11-6 in 1968.

LIU is off to a 2-1 start, winning 13-10 at Sacred Heart on Saturday to open conference play. Sophomore attackman Richie LaCalandra has a team-high 19 points on nine goals and 10 assists. Sophomore faceoff specialist Emerson Tyler has won 65.3% of his restarts and has a team-high 21 ground balls. Sophomore goalie Will Mark has started all three games, he is 2-1 with a 9.57 goals against average and a .630 save percentage.
