Hobart to host NEC leader SJU Saturday

The Hobart College lacrosse team returns to Boswell Field to host Saint Joseph's University on Saturday, April 10. The Statesmen and the Hawks will face off beginning at 1 p.m.

The game will be webcast on HWS All-Access and broadcast in the Geneva area on WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3). Fans can also track the action with Live Stats. Due to COVID-19, no spectators will be allowed in Urick Stadium.

Hobart is coming off an 11-10 win at Bryant, the Statesmen's first victory in Smithfield, R.I. The win improved Hobart's record to 3-1 overall, 3-1 in the Northeast Conference.

The Statesmen offense is led by senior attackman Ryan Archer. He has team-highs with eight goals, seven assists and 15 points. Sophomore Adam Shea is the team's top option at the faceoff X, where he's won 67 percent of his restarts, collecting a team-high 40 ground balls. Sophomore goalie Kevin Holtby is the reigning NEC Defensive Player of the Week thanks to his 23-save effort against the Bulldogs. He's second in the nation in saves per game (16.0) and seventh in save percentage (.604).

Saint Joseph's (4-3 overall) sits atop the NEC standings with a 4-0 mark. The Hawks' last played on March 27, scoring a 14-13 overtime win against Mount St. Mary's.

Sophomore attackman Matt Bohmer paces SJU's offense with 18 goals and three assists for 21 points. Junior Zach Cole is fifth in the nation in faceoff percentage at .696 while grabbing a team best 83 ground balls. Senior goalie Tucker Almany is 4-0 with a 9.04 GAA and a .500 save percentage.

This will be the 11th meeting between Hobart and Saint Joseph's. Each team has won five of the previous 10 games. The Statesmen and Hawks have had a flair for the dramatic of late. Five of the past seven games between the conference rivals have been one-goal affairs, including four overtime contests.
