GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College Head Football Coach
Kevin DeWall '00 announced changes to his coaching staff today. He welcomed new fulltime assistant coaches
David Delgado and
Seth Williams. DeWall also announced that
Michael Green '14 and
Matt Fleischacker will serve as co-defensive coordinators this season.
Delgado, who will coach the offensive line, comes to Hobart following two seasons on the coaching staff at Oberlin College. He was the Yeomen's defensive line coach in 2019 and the offensive line coach in 2020. Delgado spent the two seasons prior to that as the tight ends and offense quality control coach at Baldwin-Wallace University.
Before embarking on his collegiate coaching career, Delgado was a volunteer coaches' aide with the Cleveland Browns. His responsibilities with the NFL franchise included breaking down opponent film, charting formations and plays and creating weekly preparation books.
A 2016 graduate of Eastern Washington University, Delgado earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. As an offensive lineman, he helped the Eagles win three straight Big Sky Championships.
Williams, who will coach the receivers, brings more than a decade of coaching experience to the Statesmen. He has worked with nearly every position group on both sides of the ball during his career, beginning as a student assistant coach at St. John Fisher College. Williams graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in history. Following graduation, he joined the Utica College staff as a graduate assistant coach, earning a master's in adolescent education in 2015.
After his stint with the Pioneers, Williams spent three season at Endicott College and one season at the University of Rochester. He comes to Geneva after serving his alma mater over the past year as the defensive line coach and strength and conditioning coordinator.
Green has coached at his alma mater since graduating in 2014. As Hobart's offensive line coach, he worked with several All-Liberty League honorees, including All-Americans Ali Marpet '15 and DeAndre Smith '15. Green will coach the defensive backs this season.
Fleischacker joined DeWall's coaching staff prior for the 2020-21 academic year. He has coached on the defensive side of the ball throughout his career, working with the defensive backs and linebackers at Penn State University and the linebackers at Mercer University. Fleischacker will work with the outside linebackers this season.
Hobart will open the 2021 season on Friday, Sept. 3 at Alfred. The game will be the first between the Statesmen and Saxons since 2007. Hobart leads the all-time series 39-35-4.
