Hobart College lacrosse alum
Ty Yanko '21 was drafted by the Calgary Roughnecks in the 2021 National Lacrosse League's Entry Draft on Saturday. The native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, was the sixth pick of the sixth round (82nd overall).
"Tyler Yanko is another righty O player," said Roughnecks General Manager Mike Board. "He's pretty shifty and pretty skilled, we look forward to seeing him."
Yanko graduated from Hobart with a bachelor's degree in psychology. The four-time NEC Academic Honor Roll selection appeared in 20 games for the Statesmen, recording three goals and an assist. Yanko was among the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League scoring leaders during the 2019 season, scoring 45 goals for the New Westminster Salmonbellies.
The Roughnecks play in the West Division. Calgary was 5-5 during the 2019-20 season, the most recent NLL season.
