#8 Herons host Saxons in non-conference match

The eighth-ranked William Smith College soccer team will welcome Alfred to Cozzens Field on Wednesday, Sept. 15, for a non-conference contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
 
William Smith enters the week with a 2-1-1 overall record. The Herons are coming off a 6-1 victory over Arcadia on Sunday. Julia Keogh leads the team and the Liberty League with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Sheila McQuillen has a team-best five assists. Amanda Adams (2g, 1a), Emma Faso (2g, 1a) and Janne Knieke (1g, 3a) have five points each.
 
Kirsten Nelson and Amanda Kesler have split time in goal for William Smith. Nelson is 1-0-1 with a 0.40 goals against average and an .800 save percentage. She earned her first collegiate win on Sunday against the Knights and her first collegiate shutout against Rochester on Saturday.
 
The Saxons are 3-0-2 on the season and are coming off a 3-1 win over King's College on Saturday. Kayla Silverstein leads the team with three goals, two assists and eight points. Karah Landries and Alyssa Smith have two goals each. Hannah Fuller has played every minute in goal for Alfred posting a 0.92 GAA and a .815 save percentage.
 
Wednesday's game will be the 18th meeting between William Smith and Alfred and the first since 1994. The Herons lead the all-time series 13-4-0, including an 8-1-0 record in Geneva.
 
Admission to William Smith soccer games is free. Fans are asked to monitor their health and stay home if they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Properly fitting masks that cover the mouth and nose are required in indoor spaces on campus (including restrooms) and in crowded outdoor settings.
 
Fans who cannot make it to Cozzens Field can follow all the action with Live Stats and HWS All-Access Video. The game will be broadcast live on WHWS-FM (105.7).
