GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College squash team was edged by 23rd ranked Dickinson, 6-3, in a match at the Dr. Frank P Smith '36 Squash Center this afternoon. The Statesmen are now 5-7 this year.
Hobart earned its three points with 3-0 wins in the Nos. 6-8 spots of the lineup. In the No. 6 spot,
Roberto Vega dispatched Aidan Ray, 11-6, 11-6, 12-10. With the victory, Vega improved his record to 7-3 on the season.
James Mazzarelli emerged with a point from a tightly contested battle in the No. 7 spot. He beat Patrick Noonan, 17-15, 11-7, 11-5. It was Mazzarelli's sixth win of the season.
Sayf Elhawary knocked off Samuel Knipp, 14-12, 11-7, 11-8, at No. 8. Elhawary is 5-7 on the season.
The Red Devils logged 3-0 wins in the top three spots of the lineup. They secured the overall victory with 3-1 wins at No. 5 and No. 9. In the closest match of the day, Kobe Fleming rallied to defeat
Joey Lantos, 8-11, 6-11, 14-12, 11-8, 11-5.
Today's match served as senior day for the Statesmen. It was the final home match for
Mo Abdelhafezz,
Cameron Temoyan and
Quran Davis.
After a week off, Hobart is scheduled to be back in action Feb. 4-6 when it heads to Poughkeepsie, New York, for the Liberty League Championship.
