GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College guard Brooke Jarvis was named the Liberty League Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week by the conference office today. She earned the award for the third time this season after leading the Herons in scoring and blocked shots last week.
 
Jarvis shot 54.8% from the floor, 62.5% from 3-point land and 60% at the line, averaging 21.0 points, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks. Against Ithaca, Jarvis made three 3-pointers on her way to a 16-point game. Only teammate Olivia Parisi outscored her on Friday. Jarvis also grabbed five rebounds and blocked two shots against the Bombers. The following afternoon against RIT, she scored a game-high 26 points while sharing team-high honors with eight rebounds.
 
A starter in all 16 games this season, Jarvis is averaging 18.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals. She's shooting 43% from the floor, 36.6% from beyond the arc and 66.4% at the free throw line. Jarvis leads the Herons in scoring and steals. She is second in the Liberty League in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage, seventh in free throw percentage, eighth in rebounding and ninth in steals.
 
Following Saturday's 74-64 loss to RIT, William Smith is 4-12 overall. The Herons are 3-7 in conference play, tied for seventh place. The top six teams make the Liberty League Championship Tournament.
 
The Herons will begin February at Skidmore (10-5, 5-5) Tuesday night, tipping off at 5:30 p.m. The Thoroughbreds topped William Smith 65-52 in Geneva on Jan. 11.
 
Skidmore College has announced that home athletic events will be open to fully vaccinated/boosted spectators. All spectators are required to wear a KN95 mask and show proof of vaccination and booster in order to be admitted.
