BOSTON, Mass.—The Hobart College Rowing team opened the fall portion of its 2022-23 season at the Head of the Charles Regatta this afternoon. The Statesmen finished 16th in the 41-team field in the men's collegiate eight event.
Hobart's varsity eight traversed the 3-mile course in a time of 15:06.194. The Statesmen edged Ithaca by seven-tenths of a second. Hobart's boat was powered by

Adam Pomerantz,
Jake Hodge,
Tibor Teleki,
Sean Madden and
Tobias Shaffer.
INSIDE THE RACE:
- Hobart had the 21st fastest time at the Riverside Boathouse, checking in at 3:25.490.
- The Statesmen moved up two places at Weld Boathouse, stopping the clock at 8:06.265.
- At Cambridge Boat Club, the Statesmen were 16th with a time of 12:30.564.
- With its finish in the top half of the field, Hobart's varsity eight secured a spot in next year's regatta.
- Drexel won the collegiate eight event.
ALUMNI RACES:
- The Statesmen had a pair of alumni boats entered in races Saturday.
- The Alumni eight finished 12th in a 50-team field. The boat stopped the clock with a time of 15:28.989.
- The Alumni four was fourth in a 23-team field. The boat crossed the line with a time of 17:03.882.
