Mott named to USILA Team of the Week

Hobart College attackman Tommy Mott added another award for his season-opening performance against Canisius on Saturday. Today, the Highlands Ranch, Colo., native was named to the USILA Team of the Week. The Northeast Conference's Co-Player of the Week and Prime Performer produced a career-high nine points in the victory over the Golden Griffins.
 
Mott started his senior campaign with a bang, recording the most points by a Statesman since Feb. 15, 2020, when Jason Knox had 11 points against Siena. Mott finished the day with a career-high five goals and four assists. It was the most helpers he's had in a game since March 16, 2019, when he had four assists against Wagner.
 
Mott opened Hobart's offensive account, picking up the team's first goal of the season just under two minutes into the contest. Nine minutes later, he picked up an assist on Derrek Madonna's second goal of the game. Five minutes into the second quarter, Mott collected another assist. He flipped the switch into high gear in the second half, recording six points on four goals and two assists. Mott completed his hat trick with a pair of goals 35 seconds apart early in the third quarter. His fourth goal of the game at the 5:28 mark of the third quarter gave the Statesmen a 15-8 lead. His fifth and final goal of the game came with 8:03 remaining in regulation and was a man-up goal. Mott also had a caused turnover in the victory.
 
Mott's four assists moved him into 16th place on Hobart's Division I era list, two behind No. 15 Frank Brown '17. In 41 career games with the Statesmen, Mott has 41 goals and 37 assists for 78 points.
 
Hobart (1-0) is home again Saturday, Feb. 19, when the Statesmen host nationally-ranked Lehigh (1-0) in the Poole Family Sports Dome. Only fans on the players' pass lists will be admitted to the game. The contest will be streamed live on HWS All-Access and broadcast live on WEOS-FM.
