PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—The Hobart College squash team defeated 25th-ranked Colby College, 6-3, to win the Conroy Cup, the D Division of the College Squash Association Team Championships, this morning at the University of Pennsylvania. The trophy is the first for the Statesmen since they won the Conroy Cup in 2012.
Hobart, which entered the weekend ranked 26th in the CSA team rankings, finishes the season with an 11-9 overall record. The Mules finished the season with a 6-11 overall record. Colby and Hobart were the top two seeds in the Conroy Cup draw and entered today's match with identical 3-0 records on the weekend. On Friday, the Mules defeated Connecticut and Denison 9-0. Colby added a 7-2 win over Hamilton Saturday afternoon. Hobart opened the tournament with 9-0 wins over Haverford and Vassar. Saturday morning, the Statesmen defeated the Continentals 6-3.
In a tightly contested match, five of today's nine matches needed five games. Only three matches were 3-0 victories.
Hussein Labib earned one of those sweeps in the No. 1 spot of the lineup. He knocked off Dylan Tymkiw, 11-2, 11-4, 11-8. The win was Labib's 10th of the season. He finished the year with a 10-8 overall record that included a 4-3 mark in the No. 1 spot.
Mo Abdelhafez also logged his 10th win of the season. Playing in the No. 3 spot, he bested Adrian Castillo, 11-7, 11-9, 11-7. Abdelhafez wrapped up his senior season with a 5-2 mark in the third spot of the lineup. After dropping the first game,
Sayf Elhawary rallied to defeat Duda Voldman, 8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-6, in the No. 8 spot. It was Elhawary's 11th win of the year.
Roberto Vega clinched the overall victory for the Statesmen in the No. 7 spot. He rallied to defeat Colby's Kit Illick in five games, 12-14, 11-8, 9-11, 11-4, 11-3. It was Vega's team-leading 12th win of the season. He is 8-2 in the No. 7 spot. In the No. 9 spot,
Cameron Temoyan bested Tyler Burt, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9.
Giacomo Dalle Molle topped Syed Haseeb Kashef, 11-8, 6-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-6.

Hobart has now won four trophies at the CSA Team Championships. The Statesmen won the Conroy Cup in 2007 and 2012 and won the Summers Trophy in 1990.
