GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team will host a pair of Liberty League games in Bristol Gym this weekend. The Statesmen will take on St. Lawrence University Friday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Clarkson University Saturday, Feb. 5, at 4 p.m.
Spectators are asked to monitor their health and stay home if experiencing any COVID symptoms. All spectators, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear properly fitting masks in Bristol Gym. Fans who cannot make the trip to Geneva can follow the action with HWS All-Access video and Live Stats.
Both games will be broadcast live on WHWS-FM (105.7).
Hobart (6-10, 3-6) aims to rebound from a 92-84 loss at Skidmore on Tuesday. The Statesmen are led by junior forward
Jackson Meshanic's 17.3 ppg and 8.8 rpg. He leads the conference in scoring and field goal percentage (.584) and is third in rebounding. First-year guard
Aidan Rodgers, the only Statesman to start every game this season, adds 11.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg and a team-high 2.8 apg. The reigning Liberty League Rookie of the of the Week, first-year guard
Pat Healy contributes 8.8 ppg, 2.9 rpg and 1.5 apg.
St. Lawrence is 11-7 overall, 5-6 in conference play. The Saints are looking to bounce back from a 74-71 loss to Bard on Saturday. Trent Adamson is SLU's scoring and rebounding leader at 16.0 ppg and 7.9 rpg. Will Englehardt adds 13.8 ppg and 5.2 rpg. Trey Syroka nets 7.7 ppg and paces the Saints in assists (3.2 apg) and steals (1.6 spg).
Friday's game will be the 140th between the league rivals. St. Lawrence leads the series 85-54, but Hobart has won each of the past three meetings.
Clarkson will take a 5-13 overall record, including a 2-9 mark in league play, into the weekend. The Golden Knights play at RIT Friday night, looking to halt a two-game slide. Blake Gearhart is CU's leading scorer (14.1 ppg) and playmaker (3.4 apg). Ryan Miles-Ferguson paces Clarkson on the glass at 6.5 rpg and chips in 13.1 ppg. Chris Hulbert is also averaging double digits at 12.5 ppg.
Saturday's showdown will be the 144th between Hobart and Clarkson with the Statesmen leading the series 83-60. Hobart has won each of the past 10 meetings, most recently taking a 77-68 decision in Geneva. The Golden Knights last topped the Statesmen on Feb. 25, 2015, 69-59 in Geneva.
St. Lawrence and Union are both 5-6 in league play, holding the last two spots in the six-team Liberty League Tournament. Hobart is a game behind the Saints and Dutchmen while Clarkson is three games out of a playoff spot.
