The Hobart College squash team will be back in action this weekend, Feb. 5-6, when it travels to Poughkeepsie, New York, for the 2022 Liberty League Championship hosted by Vassar.

The Statesmen will play three matches on Saturday and one on Sunday at Vassar's squash courts. Hobart will open the tournament against the host Brewers at 9 a.m., the Statesmen are scheduled to take on Bard at 10:30 a.m. and No. 17 St. Lawrence at 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, Hobart will take on No. 10 Rochester at Noon.

Fans are allowed in Kenyon Hall. Spectators age five or older must be fully vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of the event. Fans will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a copy of a negative test to enter the competition venue. Fans who can't make the trip to Poughkeepsie can follow all the action with live scoring on the tournament page.

Hobart is 5-7 overall this season. The Statesmen have already played three of the four members of the Liberty League this season, posting a 1-2 record. Then No. 10 Rochester bested Hobart 9-0 on Nov. 10 and then No. 19 St. Lawrence defeated the Statesmen 7-2 on Nov. 13. Hobart cruised to a 9-0 victory over Vassar on Nov. 14.
Roberto Vega is has a team-best 7-3 record this season. He is 3-1 in the No. 6 spot and 4-2 in the No 7 spot.

Hussein Labib and James Mazarelli are right behind him with six wins each.
Mo Abdelhafez has played a majority of the matches in the No. 1 spot. He is 5-4 at the top of the ladder.

The Brewers are ranked 37th in the latest College Squash Association team rankings. Vassar is 5-6 overall this season. Rithik Jalali is 5-5 in the No. 1 spot of the lineup.

The Raptors have not played an official match this season. Will Egan, Jacob Nathan and Marty Graham did play individual matches at the Bard Round Robin back in November.

The Saints are ranked 17th in the CSA team rankings, posting an 11-3 record. The Saints have won their last three matches by the score of 5-4. Lewis Anderson is 12-0 this season. He played in the No. 1 spot when Hobart and St. Lawrence met earlier in the year.

The 10th ranked Yellowjackets are 1-5 this weekend. Rochester's five losses this season have come against teams ranked in the top 10 in the nation. Cesar Corona Segunda plays in the No. 1 spot. He won 3-0 when the Yellowjackets and Statesmen played in November.

In 2020, Hobart posted a 3-1 record, placing second at the conference championship. The Statesmen defeated St. Lawrence 6-3 and Vassar 9-0 in Rochester to open the tournament. The next day they defeated Bard 8-1 before losing to Rochester 9-0 at the Smith Squash Center.
