#9/5 Herons host Tigers in conference clash

The nationally-ranked William Smith College lacrosse team will wrap-up its three-game homestand Wednesday, April 6, when it welcomes the Rochester Institute of Technology to Boswell Field at Urick Stadium for a Liberty League contest. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
The game will be broadcast live on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva). Fans can watch the game on HWS All-Access and track the action with Live Stats.
 
This will be the 11th meeting between William Smith and RIT. Since dropping the first contest between the two teams back in 2012, the Herons have won 10 straight games and hold a 10-1 advantage in the series. William Smith is 5-0 against the Tigers in Geneva, including last year's 12-8 victory that saw the Herons produce a single-game record matching 25 caused turnovers.
 
William Smith is 8-1 overall this season and 3-0 in conference play.  The Herons lead the Liberty League and are 16th in the nation in turnovers (13.56), 17th in the nation in winning percentage (.889) and are 29th in the nation in scoring defense (7.22 gpg). On the offensive end of the field, William Smith is averaging 14.67 goals per game.
 
Allie McGinty leads the team with 41 points and 28 assists. She is 13th in the nation in assists per game (3.11). Maddie Montgomery has a team best 31 goals and is second with 37 points. Her 50 draw controls lead the team. Katherine Murray has brought in a team-leading 25 ground balls and Kate Risley has 16 caused turnovers.
 
Maura Smeader has played all but 70 minutes in goal this season. She is 8-1 with a 7.16 goals against average and a .477 save percentage. Her GAA leads the Liberty League and is 18th in the nation.
 
RIT is 4-6 overall this season with a 2-3 mark in conference play. The Tigers are looking to bounce back from an 18-5 loss to Rensselaer last Saturday. Aldyn Savage leads the team with 32 points on 21 goals and 11 assists. Colette Rigas has a team-best 30 goals. Linda Nutter has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 2-3 with a 15.23 GAA and a .361 save percentage. Nutter leads the team with 22 ground balls.
