#24 Statesmen top Dickinson 5-4

CARLISLE, Pa.—The 24th-ranked Hobart College squash team defeated Dickinson College 5-4 at the Kline Center this afternoon.  With the victory, the Statesmen are now 4-6 on the season.
 
KEY STATS
  • Hobart earned four of its five points by 3-0 sweeps. The Statesmen's fifth point came in a 3-1 game.
  • The Red Devils had only had one 3-0 sweep.
  • This was Hobart's first victory over Dickinson since 2016.
 
MATCH MOMENTS
  • In the No. 4 spot, Joseph Raskin Lantos defeated Kobe Fleming, 12-10, 11-6, 11-5. It was Raskin Lantos' fifth win of the season and extended his winning streak to four matches.
  • Javier De La Vega bested Aidan Ray, 11-5, 11-4, 11-6, at No. 5. De La Vega collected his third win of the year.
  • Roberto Vega won his fourth match of the season, sweeping Patrick Noonan, 11-9, 11-1, 11-6 at No. 6.
  • At No. 9, James Mazzarelli cruised to an 11-4, 11-6, 11-5 win over Jack Corkum. With the win, Mazarelli is now 4-4 on the season.
  • Sayf Elhawary topped Hussein Eldesouky, 11-8, 11-9, 10-12, 11-6, at No. 8. It was his fourth win of the year.
  • In the closest match of the day, Omar Kiwan was tripped up by Joe Smythe, 11-6, 7-11, 19-11, 13-11, 11-9.
 
UP NEXT
Hobart will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 15, when it travels to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to take on 15th-ranked Franklin and Marshall. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
