William Smith to host Skidmore in conference matchup Tuesday

The William Smith College basketball team will host Skidmore on Tuesday, Jan. 31, in a midweek Liberty League matchup. Tipoff between the Herons and the Thoroughbreds is set for 5 p.m. in Bristol Gymnasium and will be a part of William Smith's celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
 
Fans who cannot make it to Bristol Gymnasium can follow the action with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The games will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
The Herons are 6-12 following a 63-58 conference victory over RIT on Saturday. Junior Brooke Jarvis led William Smith with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while first-year Mckenzie Mandyck posted a career-high 12 points. Jarvis was named to the Liberty League weekly honor roll after two strong performances last week.


ABOUT THE HERONS
  • William Smith sits in sixth place in the Liberty League with a conference record of 4-7.
  • Jarvis leads the team, averaging 14.4 points per game, followed by senior Lauren DeVaney with 12.6.
  • DeVaney averages a team-leading 8.9 rebounds per game, followed by Jarvis with 7.5 and sophomore Maddie Patrick with 5.7.

  • Skidmore is in second place in the Liberty League with a 10-1 record.
  • The Thoroughbreds are 14-4 overall after defeating Union 61-52 on Saturday.
  • Andi Levitz leads Skidmore, averaging 8.8 points per game, followed by Julia Blanck with 7.9.
  • Blanck averages a team-leading 8.9 rebounds per game, followed by Emmy Plage with 6.2.
 
SERIES SNAPSHOT
  • William Smith and Skidmore will face off for the 54th time on Tuesday. The Herons lead the series 33-20, including a 17-9 record against the Thoroughbreds in Geneva.
