Two members of the Hobart College soccer team were named Liberty League performers of the week this afternoon. Graduate student Nolan Fierro was tabbed the offensive performer of the week and senior goalie Guillermo Castañeda Chang was selected as the defensive performer of the week. In addition, first-year La Zai Outerbridge earned a spot on the weekly honor roll.

Fierro and Castañeda Chang led the Statesmen to a pair of Liberty League victories last week. Hobart (4-4-1, 3-0-0) notched a pair of 2-0 wins on the road, defeating Ithaca and Clarkson. The Statesmen are off to their first 3-0-0 start in league play since 2008.

Fierro finished the week with three points on a goal and two assists. He factored into both of Hobart's game-winning goals. Against the Bombers, his corner kick set up Brian Sheehan's goal in the fifth minute giving theStatesmen the 1-0 lead. On Saturday, Fierro fired a free kick from 20 yards out into the lower right-hand corner of the cage. A starter in all nine games, he is tied for the team lead with two goals.

Castañeda Chang was 2-0-0 in goal, posting a pair of shutouts. On Wednesday, he made two saves against Ithaca. He followed that up with seven saves against the Golden Knights, including five in the first half. Castañeda Chang is 4-1-0 this season with a 0.86 GAA and a .840 save percentage.

Outerbridge scored a goal late in the first half of Hobart's game against Ithaca. He is one of four Statesmen with two goals this season.

Hobart will be back in action Wednesday, Oct. 2, when it hosts Rochester Institute of Technology. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
