Hobart College junior forward Carter Meshanic was named the Liberty League Men's Basketball Performer of the Week by the conference office today. He posted his second straight double-double in Hobart's victory at Rochester last week.
 
The Statesmen (4-0) headed to the University of Rochester's Louis Alexander Palestra to take on the Yellowjackets and the weight of history on Nov. 21. Since making its first visit to UR in 1902, Hobart had won just seven times in 67 tries.
 
The Statesmen trailed the Yellowjackets by 11 late in the first half, but rallied for a 78-70 victory thanks in part to Meshanic's 18 points and 14 rebounds. Hobart went into halftime trailing 35-30, but Meshanic posted 13 points and 11 boards after the break.
 
A starter in all four games this season, Meshanic is averaging 12.8 points and a league-leading 9.8 rebounds per game.
 
Hobart will open Liberty League play this weekend with a road trip to Union and Vassar. The Statesmen and Garnet Chargers will square off Friday at 7:30 p.m. Live stats and streaming video will be available on unionathletics.com.
