Football to face RPI on Senior Day

Statesmen will honor 17 seniors prior to kickoff

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College football team will play its final regular season home game of the season Saturday, Nov. 4, when the Statesmen welcome Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to Boswell Field at Urick Stadium. Prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff, Hobart will honor the team's 17 seniors.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
  • Ithaca has secured the Liberty League's automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs and at least a share of the Liberty League championship.
  • RPI could earn a share of the title if they win out and the Bombers lose at St. Lawrence on Saturday.
  • Even if the Engineers don't earn a share of the league title, a 9-1 record would put them in consideration for an at-large bid to the NCAA playoffs.
  • Hobart has been eliminated from the Liberty League championship chase, but the Statesmen are still in the hunt for their fourth consecutive bowl bid. Hobart has played in each of the past two ECAC Bushnell Bowls, the ECAC's premier bowl game.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
  • Hobart and RPI will square off for the 66th time on Saturday. The series is deadlocked at 32-32-1.
  • The Statesmen have the upper hand on their home field, sporting a 17-13-1 edge over the Engineers.
  • In fact, the home team has prevailed in each of the past six meetings between the two league rivals.
 
WHEN HOBART HAS THE BALL
  • The Statesmen are third in the league averaging 31.8 points per game and fourth with 360.6 yards per game.
  • The Engineers are fourth in scoring defense (13.3 ppg) and fourth in total defense (281.5 yds/g).
  • Senior running back Rayshawn Boswell leads the Hobart ground game with 503 yards and 10 touchdowns.
  • Junior linebacker Anthony D'Agostino has a team-high 60 tackles and a pair of interceptions for RPI.
 
WHEN RPI HAS THE BALL
  • The Engineers sport the league's top scoring offense, averaging 39.8 points per game. They're second in the conference in yards per game at 426.0.
  • The Statesmen lead the league in sacks (18) and interceptions (13), are second in total defense (277.8 yds/g) and third in scoring defense (13.0 ppg).
  • Junior quarterback Jake Kazanowsky has completed 67% of his passes for 1,757 yards and 15 touchdowns.
  • Junior linebacker Anthony Romano leads Hobart with 55 tackles.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS
  • Both rosters feature all-star caliber players on special teams.
  • Hobart junior kicker/punter Tobias Wefering leads the league in field goal percentage (.750) and punting (41.5 yds/p) and is third in points per game by a kicker (6.3).
  • RPI senior return specialist Sterling Waler-Sutton paces the conference in both kick return average (28.6) and punt return average (15.6). He has returned two punts for a touchdown this season.
