Statesmen renew rivalry with Colonials on Saturday

The Hobart College lacrosse team will renew its rivalry with Robert Morris University on Saturday, Mach 4. The former Northeast Conference foes are set to face off at noon in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, in a non-conference showdown.
 
The game will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3 in Geneva). The game will stream live on ESPN+ with live stats available on rmucolonials.com.
 
Saturday's game will be the 12th meeting between Hobart and Robert Morris since the series began in 2005. The Statesmen hold a slim 6-5 lead, including a 4-2 mark in Moon Township. Each of the past four meetings and five of the past six have been decided by just a single goal with three of those games needing overtime to decide a winner. The program's last squared off in the 2019 NEC Championship game in Emmitsburg, Maryland, with the Colonials eking out an 11-10 win.
 
Four games into the 2023 season, Hobart's record stands at 2-2. The Statesmen are ranked in the top 25 in the nation in extra-man offense (15th, .500), saves per game (15th), opponent clearing percentage (21st, .826) and faceoff winning percentage (25th, .533).
 
Robert Morris is off to a 3-0 start, including one common opponent with Hobart. The Statesmen opened the season at home with a 20-14 win over Canisius on Feb. 11. The Colonials are coming off a 13-8 win at Canisius on Feb. 26. RMU is second in the nation in scoring defense (7.67), seventh in extra-man offense (.571), and ninth in assists per game (8.67).

  • Junior attackman Anthony Dattellas leads the Statesmen with 10 goals and 13 points.
  • Sophomore attackman Will Delano has dished out a team-high four assists.
  • Senior Adam Shea has won 55% of his faceoffs this season and has a team-high 28 ground balls.
  • Senior goalie Loukas Sotiropoulos has started the first four games, producing a 2-2 record, a .491 save percentage and a 14.83 GAA.
