ORLANDO, Fla.—The William Smith College tennis team (4-4) finished its week of matches at the USTA national campus in Orlando, with a 5-4 victory over St Catherine University (3-6).
The Herons took the lead in doubles action, earning two out of the three doubles points. First-year
Haley Levine and sophomore
Isabelle Goings-Perrot defeated Kelsey Dorr in a thrilling match at the No. 1 position, 8-7, while junior
Jamie Fine and first-year
Maddy Buck topped Anna Lukskik and Monica Zink, 8-4, at the No. 3 spot.
William Smith secured the match in singles play by winning three out of the six singles matches in straight sets. Levine downed Sofia Walker, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot, while senior
Audrey Camacho bested Elsa Joly at the No. 3 position, 7-5, 6-4.
Sophomore
Natalie Haythorn clinched the victory for the Herons at the No. 4 position with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Monica Zink.

"Being involved in three 5-4 decisions was a great experience for our young team," Head Coach
Tim Riskie said. "These close matches, win or lose, only help us continue to improve our resilience and grit. I'm proud of all the efforts on the court and the energy this team brings to each match."

William Smith will play one more nonconference matchup on Wednesday March 29, against Nazareth College (8-4), before it kicks off its regular season. The match between the Herons and the Golden Flyers is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in Bristol Field House.
